Adelaide Autumn Carnival upon us!
Apr 12, 2015
The first day of the Adelaide Autumn Carnvial was run at Morphettville yesterday, let's hope we can keep some of the prizemoney in South Australia - that's our aim, anyway!
We were happy to taste success early on day 1 - in Race 1 with Counter Pulse saluting. He has now had 3 starts for 2 wins and appears to be a nice horse. The stable were disappointed with not having a runner in the Sires Produce Stakes, as it's a race that has been very good to us in the past. Unfortuately Battle Brewing slipped at the course and had to be withdrawn from the race.
Stable runners during the Carnival are likely to be:-
- Cavaloce - Queen of the South Stakes
- Daytona Grey - Irwin Stakes this week
- Counter Pulse - Queen Adelaide and National Stakes
- Battle Brewing - Oaklands Plate
- Burgundy Blast - Redelva Stakes follwed by the William Hill Stakes
- Gamblin Guru - Japan Trophy
- Nearest To Pin - D C McKay Stakes
The season so far has been very rewarding for the stable sitting 3rd on the SA Trainer's Premiership with 25 wins, keeping the big stable's of Phil Stokes and Tony McEvoy honest! Our stable rider Clare Lindop is flying along, currently leading the SA Jockey's Premiership with 42 wins.
We always are on the look out to find the next champion, and I have been active at Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney Sales. There are still some shares available in some nice horses by So You Think and Magic Albert.
We have also bred a few yearlings by one of the old favourites (and one of the best I've trained) Rebel Raider, and if you are interested in being involved in this new stallion's progeny I'd love to hear from you.
On another note, life at Macdonald Racing is not always about the horses with some budding baseballers keeping us on our toes! Joe, Henry and Darcy are all representing SA in interstate carnivals. Good luck boys, see you in the Winner's Bar!
